Collective impact
Willkommen to Our Community
grenzenlos is a cross-organizational association of former volunteers. We facilitate the exchange of experiences and advocate for the interests of international volunteers and alumni. In doing so, we maintain close contact with alumni associations, sending organizations, and representatives at the political level. Our association was founded in 1999 and currently has about 70 members.
Diverse and individual—yet unifying—are the experiences volunteers have gained during their time abroad. grenzenlos provides a framework for civic engagement linked to volunteer service. In the past, we have demonstrated this through projects such as the Wandel-Fibel or the portal MeinFreiwilligendienst.de. In addition, the association has contributed significantly to the development of the weltwärts volunteer service. Among other things, we advocated for the inclusion of the South-North component in the weltwärts program in 2013.

Our work is organized into various areas. We represent the interests of current and former volunteers, organize festivals, have created a social network for alumni—and are constantly developing new ideas. For example, we are currently implementing the “weltwärts Community” project in collaboration with weltwärts and working on a community fund for former South-North volunteers.

Interested in joining us? Share your ideas, start your own projects, or join existing initiatives—from political advocacy to the Community Fund. Grenzenlos thrives on diversity, commitment, and fresh ideas. The easiest way to get involved is through one of our weekly meetings, held Mondays at 8:30 PM on Zoom.

Many people help shape grenzenlos: In addition to a volunteer board, other volunteers are involved in specific projects and topics. They are supported by a five-person full-time team that runs the weltwärts Community project entirely remotely.
Administration
Without our association’s infrastructure, all of our diverse work would not be possible. This infrastructure also requires a certain amount of administration. For our administrative work, we use the easyVerein software.
